Augustus has completed a $180 million Series B funding round with a valuation of $1 billion as it advances plans for a federally chartered U.S. dollar clearing bank supporting stablecoin integration.

Funding and Strategic Plans

The round was led by Tiger Global, featuring investors such as Hummingbird, QED, and executives connected to Nubank, Ramp, Circle, and Deel. Augustus aims to expand its banking platform that links traditional payment systems like Swift, ACH, and SEPA with stablecoin rails and 24/7 settlement capabilities.

Augustus’ core banking platform, Marble, automates back-office functions and facilitates continuous availability, targeting banks and fintech firms across Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

CEO Ferdinand Dabitz positions the company as an alternative to correspondent banking, which relies on multiple intermediaries and often suffers from slow cross-border transfers and limited hours. Augustus does not issue its own stablecoin but focuses on infrastructure that enables smooth use of both conventional and blockchain-based payment networks.

Earlier this year, Augustus received conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to establish Augustus National Bank, N.A., though final regulatory steps remain before offering direct U.S. dollar clearing services.

Augustus operates regulated European entities and reportedly processes billions of dollars for international financial institutions, including cryptocurrency exchanges, showcasing its growing role in global dollar infrastructure.
