Apple has launched the public beta of iOS 27, allowing users to test the redesigned Siri AI, which is now accessible to all iPhone owners without a developer account.

Users must enable Apple Intelligence in their settings, update their device to iOS 27, and join a waitlist, with approvals often taking between five and ten days. Despite the waiting period, this marks the largest real-world trial of the new Siri, which was first introduced during a developer conference in June.

With around 2.5 billion active devices globally, even a small percentage of beta testers significantly impacts the feedback for this AI assistant. The upgrade is set against the backdrop of Apple's broader strategy, as they plan to officially roll out iOS 27 this September.

The new Siri can access personal data such as emails, photos, and messages, responding to queries with increased intelligence. It operates similarly to a modern chatbot, enabling users to ask questions that would traditionally require a search engine. This redesign is reported to be the most significant change since Siri's launch in 2011.

Initial compatibility includes devices from iPhone 15 Pro onwards, with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPad requiring at least an M1 chip for full feature access. Some older devices will not support the new features, as Apple focuses on optimizing Siri’s capabilities for the latest hardware.
