Aehr Test Systems (AEHR) saw its stock price increase by over 13% on Thursday after the company disclosed a new follow-on production order for its FOX-XP wafer-level burn-in (WLBI) system. This marks the company's third order for the FOX-XP system in 2026, following precedents set by a $14 million contract in February and another one in March.
The recent order was placed by Aehr's leading silicon photonics customer, which has previously installed the first FOX-XP system and is currently utilizing it in production. The FOX-XP system is designed to test up to nine 300mm wafers simultaneously, operating fully automatically without manual handling.
Importance of the Announcement
This order reinforces Aehr's relationship with its customer and signifies a commitment to support high-volume production of silicon photonics devices, which are essential for AI optical interconnects and infrastructure at hyperscale data centers. CEO Gayn Erickson described the order as “another important milestone” in their ongoing collaboration.
- Third FOX-XP order for 2026
- $14 million order placed in February
- Installation of first system already completed
- Orders exceeding previous forecasts of $60 million to $80 million
In April, Aehr reported it secured over $92 million in orders during the latter half of fiscal 2026, a figure that significantly surpassed earlier expectations. Analysts following the company predict that annual revenue is projected to grow from $49.8 million in 2026 to $85.1 million in 2027.
As the market reflected modest gains, with the Nasdaq up 0.4% and the S&P 500 moving up 0.2%, the stock's rise was attributed solely to Aehr's announcement, as competitors like Teradyne and FormFactor did not have any similar news.
Upcoming Earnings Report
The timing of this order is particularly strategic as Aehr is scheduled to announce fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter and full-year earnings on July 14, only five days away. Investors might be motivated to act ahead of this report, seeing a confirmed order from a key client as a favorable indicator.
Aehr designs and manufactures test and burn-in systems for various semiconductors, including power chips, sensors, memory chips, processors, and silicon photonics components, with the FOX-XP platform being a critical growth factor amid current advancements in AI infrastructure.
