Ripple's XRP remains price steady between $1.086 and $1.113 even as spot trading volume falls sharply, highlighting a shift in market dynamics favoring derivatives over direct asset exchanges.
Market Activity and Open Interest
Spot market inflows and outflows have diminished by approximately 99%, yet XRP's derivatives open interest surged by about 5.9%, reaching 423.8 million XRP. The use ratio on XRP derivatives increased to 0.162, indicating more leveraged positions are in play despite falling spot engagement.
This divergence reveals that derivatives trading is currently sustaining XRP's price movement without fresh capital entering the market. As a result, leveraged traders have become the principal movers of XRP’s price discovery while spot demand remains notably weak.
Holder Profitability and Market Sentiment
Short-term holders (STHs) of XRP have recently returned to profitability, with the 30-day MVRV ratio rising above neutral to 1.03. This level aligns closely with key large-cap assets such as Bitcoin at 1.04, Ethereum at 1.11, Cardano at 1.07, and Chainlink at 1.07, suggesting broader investor sentiment recovery beyond just XRP.
The rise in holder profitability can alter market incentives, as fewer unrealized losses encourage investors to consider taking profits rather than holding indefinitely. Despite this, XRP remains below historic sell thresholds, and the combination of limited new demand and increasing profit-taking could pressure price sustainability.
Price Risks and Market Outlook
The $1.10 price support level now faces greater risk due to increased use-driven positioning and diminishing spot demand. Without renewed spot market interest to back these positions, the buildup in use may expose XRP to a sharp price correction should investor sentiment turn negative.
The XRP market shows signs of profit-taking pressure as leveraged derivatives dominate price movements while spot demand remains absent.
