Trump Media & Technology Group shifted 2,628 Bitcoin valued at roughly $165 million on August 2, continuing a pattern of significant reductions in its crypto holdings. The company’s tracked Bitcoin balance dropped sharply over the past seven months, now standing near 4,261 BTC, worth around $270 million.

Tracked Bitcoin Transfers and Declining Reserves

Blockchain data revealed two large transactions moving 2,429 BTC and 199 BTC to wallets linked with Crypto.com, as identified by Lookonchain and Arkham Intelligence. These transfers are part of a series, following earlier deposits totaling 2,650 BTC worth about $205 million in May. Altogether, about 7,281 Bitcoin have been moved from the company’s wallets, a drop of approximately 63% from an initial total of over 11,500 BTC. Still, these on-chain movements don’t necessarily confirm sales since transfers can serve multiple purposes, including custody changes or collateral management.

Trump Media’s SEC filings outline a Bitcoin acquisition plan originally aiming to raise $2.5 billion through private placements. The filings also indicated management’s flexibility to sell Bitcoin and convert proceeds into cash or other investments under certain market conditions.

Broader Treasury Strategy and Market Context

Recent disclosures show Trump Media managing a more complex treasury structure than wallet balances alone suggest. This includes Bitcoin, related securities, pledged assets, and derivatives. This diversified approach hints at active treasury management beyond simple hodling.

Bitcoin’s volatile price and shifting crypto market dynamics make the company’s moves particularly noteworthy. While some investors see Bitcoin as a store of value, such large-scale movements may signal strategic adjustments or liquidity needs. The trend also contrasts with rising institutional interest in other digital assets, as seen in increased inflows to Ethereum ETFs last month.
