The Sandbox Studio has garnered over 12,000 sign-ups, indicating solid interest from creators as it gears up for a public beta release planned for late 2026. Currently, access to the platform is restricted to a select group of more than 30 alpha creators who are actively testing the engine and its tools.

This group includes seasoned developers familiar with platforms such as Roblox, Unity, and Unreal Engine, as well as those utilizing Cursor, OpenAI Codex, and Claude Code. The Sandbox plans to onboard up to ten additional creators each week while providing direct support and workshops to enhance the development experience.

Recent updates to the engine have significantly improved build speed and overall workflow for creators. Enhancements include better asset management, application programming interfaces, and a more efficient software development kit. Notably, the update allows creators to reorganize project assets smoothly without the need to manually fix scene references.

The introduction of on-demand viewport rendering minimizes graphics-processing load during idle project times, while a new performance monitor enables developers to track frame rates and draw calls in real time. Build times have been optimized through a compiler cache that allows for faster processing by skipping unchanged assets.

As part of the ongoing development, the closed Alpha Creator Game Jam runs from July 2 to July 31, featuring a prize pool of $5,000. This event serves as a critical test of the platform’s capabilities before the broader beta launch, with winners announced on August 7 based on creativity, execution, and gameplay.

The new Creator Portal has also been launched, consolidating downloads, release notes, and changelogs, replacing the previous GitHub-based system. While the updates bring numerous advantages, some older systems have been deprecated, requiring developers to adjust existing alpha projects to align with the new engine architecture.
