SpaceX dropped its first quarterly report since going public in June, and the market punished it. Revenue hit $7.8 billion, up 92% year-over-year, losses narrowed to $541 million. None of it mattered. SPCX shares tumbled nearly 30% from the $135-$150 IPO range, and traders who'd been waiting for the slide made bank.
The Defiance Daily Target 2X Short SPCX ETF, ticker SPCQ, jumped 21%. That's not a typo. Investors betting against SpaceX stock, using leveraged instruments, got exactly what they wanted. Meanwhile, the GraniteShares 2x Long NVDA Daily ETF climbed 6% on the same day. The connection came straight from Elon Musk's mouth during the call.
Nvidia locked in for years
Musk committed SpaceX to building all AI services on Nvidia hardware, specifically the Vera Rubin architecture. The company's targeting over 2 gigawatts of compute by year-end 2026, ballooning to nearly 10 gigawatts by 2027. That's not rounding error territory. SpaceX already has a multi-year deal with Google for 110,000 Nvidia GPUs worth hundreds of millions monthly. Lock that kind of procurement into a single vendor, and the market reads it one way: Nvidia's moat just got wider.
The NVDL pop wasn't random. A 2x leveraged long ETF amplifies daily Nvidia moves, and traders interpreted Musk's comments as a demand signal that ripples far beyond SpaceX itself. When one of the most capital-intensive companies on Earth commits to exclusive GPU procurement, it shapes the entire supply curve.
For the crypto crowd, this matters more than it looks. Decentralized compute networks like Render, Akash, and io.net compete for the same scarce resource: Nvidia hardware. When centralized players lock up massive GPU quantities through multi-year deals, the supply tightens for everyone else, including decentralized alternatives. That constraint doesn't disappear. It compounds. And traders holding leveraged ETF positions are betting the squeeze tightens further.
