Robinhood Launches Arbitrum-Based L2 With Tokenized Stocks and Perpetuals

Robinhood has deployed its proprietary Layer 2 blockchain, Robinhood Chain, on public mainnet. The network is built on Arbitrum's technology stack and launched with Uniswap as a day-one integration partner.

The chain introduces around-the-clock trading of tokenized stocks, giving users continuous access to equity-linked digital assets outside traditional market hours. Alongside equities, the platform supports perpetual futures through Lighter, a decentralized derivatives protocol integrated at launch.

Robinhood Chain joins a growing field of financial-services companies building application-specific Layer 2 networks on top of established Ethereum scaling infrastructure. By leveraging Arbitrum's stack, Robinhood inherits the security guarantees of Ethereum while benefiting from lower transaction costs and higher throughput typical of optimistic rollup architecture.

The inclusion of Uniswap from the outset signals an intent to tap into existing decentralized-finance liquidity from the moment the network went live. Uniswap's automated market-maker protocol is among the most widely used on-chain trading venues by volume, and its presence on Robinhood Chain is expected to facilitate token swaps and liquidity provision for the tokenized asset pairs listed on the network.

Lighter's perpetual contracts add a derivatives layer to the chain's product suite. Perpetual futures allow traders to gain leveraged exposure to underlying assets without an expiry date, a format that has become one of the dominant trading instruments in crypto markets.

Robinhood has also outlined plans to incorporate agentic crypto trading capabilities into the chain in a future phase. Agentic trading refers to automated, AI-driven execution strategies that operate on-chain without continuous manual input from users.

The mainnet launch marks a significant step in Robinhood's broader push into decentralized finance, extending the company's retail brokerage model into on-chain infrastructure. No specific timeline has been provided for the rollout of the planned agentic trading features.
