A significant transfer of 5,908 BTC, valued at approximately $383 million, has been executed by a Bitcoin whale, marking the first movement from this wallet in over eight years. This transfer occurred just as Bitcoin's price hovered around the $64,000 mark.
The transaction took place on Wednesday evening, with the entire balance moving to a newly created wallet address, rather than to a known exchange. This detail suggests that the whale is not planning to sell the Bitcoin immediately, which could ease some concerns about potential selling pressure in the market.
Historically, this wallet received its initial 5,908 BTC in December 2017 when Bitcoin traded at around $16,800. At that time, the holding was worth about $99.6 million, meaning its value has increased nearly fourfold. Over the years, the whale has held through various market phases including the 2018 bear market and the significant bull run in 2021, even as Bitcoin peaked at its all-time high of $126,198.07 on October 6, 2025, suggesting a long-term investment strategy.
Another notable transfer occurred earlier this week when a different whale moved 2,931 BTC, worth approximately $188 million, also to a new address. These large transactions attract closer scrutiny, particularly during periods of lower market liquidity, as they can signal shifts in investment strategies. As of the latest updates, Bitcoin is trading at about $64,043, while traders keep an eye on the $63,000 support level.
