A former employee of BNB Chain launched a meme token called $ASTEROID and quickly turned a $10,000 investment into more than $600,000 profit by orchestrating a rapid pump and dump. The individual used four freshly created wallets to buy nearly 80% of the token’s supply before selling off 718.8 million tokens for 1,103 BNB, capitalizing on a sudden surge in trading volume that exceeded $20 million.

The link to BNB Chain became apparent because the wallet that deployed $ASTEROID was connected to a 2025 BNB Chain tutorial video showcasing a token named TST. This video was originally an educational guide on creating tokens but unintentionally left a digital trail back to the insider behind $ASTEROID. The pattern of using multiple new wallets to accumulate tokens is a classic red flag often spotted by on-chain analysts, yet the sell-off happened before the community reacted.

BNB Chain’s Reaction and Investor Takeaway

BNB Chain has publicly disavowed $ASTEROID, stating the token has no formal ties to the platform and confirming the former employee acted without company approval. Legal action is underway to address the situation. For traders, this case highlights the risks of concentrated token ownership and the importance of vetting wallet distribution before jumping into new projects.
