BNB Chain has successfully completed its 36th quarterly token burn, eliminating 1.61 million BNB, valued at approximately $932 million, from circulation today. The BNB Foundation confirmed that a total of 1,615,827,795 BNB tokens were sent to a burn address that is inaccessible.
The reduction in supply brings the total number of BNB in circulation down to 133,166,127.91. This quarterly burn aims to gradually decrease the circulating amount of tokens over time, which is determined by an automated burning mechanism that considers various factors, including the number of blocks created on the network and the current token price.
As part of updates, BNB Chain announced that future token burns will take place directly on the BNB Smart Chain. The BNB token has not seen a price increase following this burn; currently, it has dropped by 0.6% in the past 24 hours.
Despite the significant asset reduction, market reactions to regular burn operations have remained subdued, leading to questions about their impact on BNB's market price. Market analysts are keeping a close eye on ongoing developments and the potential for future price fluctuations.
