Bitmine Immersion Technologies just crossed into rarefied territory. The company now holds 5.8 million Ethereum tokens, worth about $10.9 billion at current prices, which equals 4.8% of all ETH in circulation. That puts the firm within striking distance of an internal goal called the Alchemy of 5%, a threshold the crypto world barely sees occupied by single entities. The company got here in 13 months.
The total war chest looks staggering on paper. Combined crypto, cash, and equity stakes add up to $11.3 billion. Beyond the Ethereum, Bitmine holds 209 Bitcoin, $180 million in Beast Industries, $61 million in Eightco Holdings (which offers indirect OpenAI exposure), plus $173 million in cash and marketable securities. The math alone drew attention from serious money. ARK's Cathie Wood, Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, Galaxy Digital, and a cluster of other heavyweights back the bet.
When Ethereum Runs While Markets Stall
Something shifted in July. Ethereum outperformed the Nasdaq 100 by 2,500 basis points, the widest gap since July 2025. That kind of divergence tells a story about where institutional appetite is flowing. Tom Lee, Bitmine's chairman, framed it as a sign that crypto fundamentals are strengthening, not weakening. A year earlier in the same month, ETH rallied from $2,375 to $4,057 in just weeks. The pattern suggests liquidity is chasing digital assets again.
The Machinery Behind the Numbers
Bitmine didn't stumble into these holdings by accident. The company runs MAVAN, the Made in America Validator Network, which has 4.9 million staked Ethereum generating roughly $9.2 billion in value at $1,880 per token. Staking is where institutional crypto operators make passive income, and Bitmine positioned itself as a premier destination for that flow. The company also burned through a $4 billion share repurchase authorization in recent weeks, buying back 4.5 million shares last week alone. That move signals confidence in Bitmine's trajectory, or at least aggressive capital allocation.
The company's recent addition to the Russell 1000 Large-cap index in June matters too. It's not symbolic window dressing. Inclusion means passive funds tracking the index now hold Bitmine automatically, which steadies the shareholder base and cuts volatility.
